EMDR by reason
EMDR for anxiety and panic attacks

Written by María Eugenia Buceta, psychologist, licence 88498, EMDR basic training complete.
People often come after a panic attack they didn't expect, or after months of living on alert: a racing heart, the feeling that something bad is about to happen, the fear that it will happen again. Many start avoiding public transport, travel or meetings.
In EMDR you and the therapist look for the earlier experiences that feed that alarm: the first attack, a moment of great fear, situations that repeated. The work covers those memories and the situations that bring on anxiety today.
Early on, you practise ways to calm your body that you can also use outside the session. If you take medication, the therapist can work together with your psychiatrist.
